Calming Chamomilla
While it’s probably more well known as the main ingredient in soothing chamomile tea, Chamomilla is one of the oldest medicinal plants—and its use in holistic cures harnesses that calming effect as well. Documentation of its use in natural medicine as a remedy for irritability* and restlessness* goes back thousands of years.
It is traditionally used to treat an irritable mood* by targeting symptoms that may be causing that mood. The most common example of this is teething infants: chamomilla can ease the pain* and discomfort* that comes with teething.*
While most commonly used for treating babies or children, chamomilla has applications in treating ailments in adults as well. Specifically, it is known to help to relieve pain after tooth extraction, but it is also used for its calming effect—treating more general health issues like anxiety* or restlessness* that keeps you from falling asleep.*
